I hope everyone had a nice Halloween. My little ones sure did, and came home with loads of candy. But, it’s not only about the candy, right? The outfits are equally important. My daughter dreamed up the idea of a Candy Princess and designed her own outfit, and my son was the nefarious Kylo Ren. Below is a picture of the duo, the Candy Princess and her sidekick, the evil and apparently not overly thrilled, Kylo Ren. 😉
As many of you know, I am obsessed with pumpkin spice this time of year. I usually bake with it or add it to my coffee, but I wanted to do something a little different. I added a little pumpkin and espresso (my other obsession), and a healthy serving of pumpkin spice. This smoothie offers a bit of health and a punch of spice, with the added bonus of caffeine. 😉 What could be better, right? It can also be made without coffee for kids. My little ones love it! If you like strong flavors and want a little something different, you will enjoy this smoothie.
Notes
This is an intense drink, and will leave heat in the back of your throat. Use less pumpkin spice and more maple syrup, if the coffee and spice are too strong.
If you would like to make it without caffeine, adjust the pumpkin spice and maple syrup each to 1 1/2 tsp. Adjust to taste.
Ingredients
- 1 frozen banana (I chop mine up and freeze it the day before)
- 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 cup milk
- 1 shot freshly brewed espresso
- 2 tsp. maple syrup
- 2 tsp. Zoale's pumpkin spice
- 3/4 cup crushed ice
Instructions
- Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth (either let the espresso cool first or add it directly to the milk before adding to the blender). Enjoy!
I am excited to bring my smoothie to Fiesta Friday #143 (your lovely cohosts this week are: Margy @ La Petite Casserole and Suzanne @ apuginthekitchen) and Throwback Thursday #61.
Sweet costumes-lovely beverage Antonia! x
Thank you Cheryl! 😀
xx
Have a wonderful day!
You too Antonia! x
Thanks!
I love smoothies and honestly, I never thought to make a banana pumpkin one! I’m saving this recipe to try it this month. I’m sure He-Man will let me use his Vita-Mix to make us some.
Your children’s costumes and they are so cute! I love your daughter’s hair color and her long wavy locks! I wanted my daughter to be a red head like that. My Great aunt was a gorgeous red head and I hoped my daughter would inherit her hair color. She didn’t. She was a beautiful toe-head which sadly morphed into a brunette just like I did.
Thank you Deborah! It is tasty, and has a wonderful kick. I hope so, there is nothing like a Vita-Mix for making smoothies. Thank you for the kind words! I love her hair too, and always tell her how special it is to have that color and all those curls 😀 I must admit, she made a perfect little princess!
Lovely pics! Beautiful little ones!
Thank you so much!
I love the candy princess costume! She’s so creative 🙂 That smoothie sounds yummy!
Thank you Cynthia! It was really cool watching her vision come to life.
I know what you mean, it’s great to see your kids get so into something. Gotta love the creativity of kids! Your daughter looks so happy with how it came out, too 🙂
Yes, it’s awesome when they want to create something. Kids don’t have the same boundaries we seem to have. I let her go for it and just guided her as needed. She was super proud of it 😀 She also loves to smile for the camera.
Your children are adorable Antonia – your daughter’s costume and her beautiful, long, curly red hair – oh my 🙂 A grandson went through a phase where he did not want to smile – thankfully he grew out of it. Your smoothie sounds delicious too but I am afraid it ranks second to those cute kids.
Thank you Judi, you are so sweet! I agree, it definitely ranks second 😉
This smoothie sounds so delicious, Antonia! Your daughter is so creative, the outfit has turned out so well 🙂 Lovely pics!
Thank you for the kind words Freda! She was so happy with the way it came together. 😀
This looks wonderful Antonia. I love bold coffee and want to taste my spices too so I know I would love this drink!
Thank you Julie!
The drink sounds good, Antonia, but the photo of your kids is fabulous. What a great shot. Love the expressions 🙂 Hope you had a great Halloween!

The photograph of your little ones is absolutely beautiful, Antonia. Both children are very photogenic, and your daughter is a great designer! Your smoothie sounds delicious, just as you have made it. 🙂
Thank you so much Milie! She loves designing and will be very excited to read your comment 😀 You are very sweet!

Thanks and wish you the same… 🙂
Thank you 😀
What adorable costumes your children had for Halloween Antonia! A candy princess is the type of creative costume I had when I was little 🙂 I’m really intrigued by this drink, it sounds really intense but in a wonderful way!
Thank you Heather! Me too, we always made our own costumes. I’m so happy that she likes doing her own thing! You are always so kind, thank you 😀 Have a wonderful week my friend!
Pumpkin anything is my drug of choice! I’ve never tried a smoothie like this – bet it is ace!
Haha, me too! Thanks! Have a lovely week 😀
Looks and sounds delicious. I love bold rich flavored coffee as well and having this as a cold option would be nice. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Dr. Jonathan! Me too, I love bold flavors! Have a wonderful day 😀
So adorable! Thanks for sharing this picture Antonia!
Thank you Lynn!
This sounds wonderful. I love smoothies. My two adult children are coming for Thanksgiving. This would be perfect.
Thank you Jacqui! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family! I can’t believe it is so close! I hope they enjoy the smoothie 😀 Have a great day!
I wonder what frozen banana tastes like!
They are great to make your smoothie cold without adding too much ice 😀
Is this the beauty that loves my foxes ?:)
Thank you Inese, you are so sweet! Yes, she is a huge animal lover, and foxes are one of her favorites.
I have a redhead son-in-law, and I expected my grandchildren being the same, and they are not! All my girls have blonde and straight hair, like my daughter’s. Now that we have a baby, every time we chat I always ask – check that hair again, didn’t it start to curl? 🙂 I don’t give up hope 🙂
You are too funny! My daughter’s hair didn’t start curling until she turned 3, so there is hope 😉 We don’t know who she got the curls from, but the red hair came from my husband.
Thank you for the hope 😉
Ha ha, absolutely 😉
