It’s Tips for Tuesday!

This week’s tip: Make a raspberry maple syrup to top your pancakes, biscuits, or toast!

I love using seasonal fruit to making toppings for my family’s breakfast.  I am not a big jam or jelly person, so when I want to add extra sweetness to my fruit, I usually make syrups.  This syrup is fresh, and maintains the tanginess of the berry, while adding sweetness with the maple syrup.  If you like raspberries, you will really enjoy this syrup.  It literally takes less than 5 minutes to make, and requires no cooking.

Try it with chocolate chip pancakes. Click here for the recipe.

Raspberry Syrup

  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • Combine the syrup and raspberries in a blender and blend until smooth. If you do not like seeds in your syrup, strain out the seeds at this point. I prefer using the entire fruit, in order to take advantage of all the nutrition the berry has to offer. If you like a warm syrup, heat through on the stove top on medium heat. Enjoy!
