It’s Tips for Tuesday!
This week’s tip: Create a sub/sandwich spread the next time you have a party!
One of my goals when I entertain, is to limit most of the cooking and baking to the day before. This is especially true when I am hosting a birthday party in the middle of the summer, when it is brutally hot. This is a great way to minimize your work the day of the party and give yourself time to decorate, finish the cake, and set up. Over time, I will provide more entertaining tips for a perfect party with minimal effort the day of.
I love the idea of a sub party, because it enables your guests to have their food the way they want it.
Meat and Cheese
Create a couple of meat and cheese trays the day before, cover and refrigerate. Either use a cool tray or place ice under to preserve the food during the party.
Cut up tomatoes, onions, peppers, lettuce, etc. and store them separately until the day of the party.
Include olive oil, vinegar, spices, mustard (have a few types), relish (click here for a great recipe), pickles, pickled veggies, etc. Make it a varied and interesting spread.
Include salsa, guacamole, hummus, and chips in your spread.
Your guests will love the idea of making their own subs. To make it special, I make my own sub bread, but that is optional. This is a great way to satisfy your guests without a lot of work the day of, or sweating over a grill in 90 degree weather.
I hope you enjoyed this entertaining tip. I will have more ideas for your next gathering down the road.
