This week’s tip: Spice up your popcorn with paprika!
Use spices to turn your air popped popcorn into something special. Air popped popcorn is a great snack and can be flavorful and satisfying. It is a great way to get a little extra fiber as well (31 calories, 6 g carbohydrates, and 1 g dietary fiber per popped cup). I have said it before, but sometimes you need to be able to stick your face in something, and popcorn is that snack. The recipe is below.
1/3 cup popcorn kernels
1/2 tsp. kosher salt (light 1/2 tsp.)
1/2 tsp. garlic powder (heavy 1/2 tsp.)
1 1/4 tsp. sweet Spanish paprika
1/2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
Pop your popcorn (air popped is best for saving on calories). Mix your spices together and set aside. Pour olive oil over your popcorn and mix well. Add spice mixture to the popcorn and toss well. Adjust oil and spices to your tasting if necessary. Enjoy!
