It’s Tips for Tuesday!
Happy November! I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I love this time of year, from the colorful leaves to the wonderful food. If you are like me, you are already beginning to dream up that Thanksgiving menu. All month long, I will be sharing delicious Thanksgiving recipes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with brand new recipes each Thursday.
This week’s tip: Make a delicious dip to start your Thanksgiving meal!
Since the Thanksgiving meal starts with appetizers, I thought I would start the month off this way too 🙂 This cream cheese dip is incredibly easy to make, which helps when you will be spending your time focused on the main meal and of course, dessert. This dip can be made in less than 15 minutes. It is creamy, flavorful, and reminiscent of french onion dip. It is thick enough to spread, but can hold up to a kettle cooked potato chip! It is also a great substitute for a cheese ball or spread, and pairs perfectly with Zoale’s crostini. It is something different that your guests will love!
Notes
#1 Make 1 to 2 days ahead when entertaining. Store in the refrigerator in a sealed container. Give it a quick stir before serving.
#2 Serve with Zoale’s crostini, kettle cooked chips, crackers, or even bagels.
#3 Mix leftovers with vegetables and make a veggie cream cheese for your bread or bagel.
Ingredients
- 8 oz. cream cheese
- 1 medium shallot
- 1 large garlic clove
- 2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- pinch of salt
- garlic powder to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Dice the shallot and garlic. Heat up the oil on the stove over medium heat. Once heated, add the garlic and shallot, and let cook until the shallots just start to turn translucent and the garlic begins to turn golden. Let it cool slightly.
- Break up the cream cheese slightly and place in a food processor, with the salt. Add your olive oil, garlic, and shallots, and mix until smooth. Taste and add additional salt and/or garlic powder if desired. Place in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving.
