It’s Tips for Tuesday!
This week’s tip: Put molasses inside your biscuit!
My husband’s sweet grandmother used to make the most incredible biscuits. As we would sit around the table, she would often tell us about a trick her mother had taught her. She would poke a hole inside their biscuits with her finger, and then pour molasses inside the hole. Then they would go out and play, while enjoying every bit of deliciousness. I loved to hear that story, and thought it was the most clever trick. I love molasses, and it pairs perfectly with biscuits! She would use regular dark molasses (molasses created in the second boiling of the sugar cane or sugar beet). While I like this type for baking, I actually reach for the stronger variety for my biscuits, blackstrap molasses. Blackstrap molasses is incredibly intense, but very high in iron, calcium, and potassium. No matter what your favorite molasses, you will love this tip. Try it out the next time you have biscuits and relive a simpler time. Thanks grandma for this wonderful tip and legacy 🙂

I think that’s what we call black treacle. I hope so anyway because I need to try this!
Neat, I didn’t know that! I looked it up and I think it is the same as regular dark molasses. I hope that you like it 🙂 I love the contrast of flavor.
Who knew?! I’ll have to try this sometime.
I hope you like it 🙂
