Garlic Knots

Garlic Knots

Years ago, we used to go to a pizza place that would serve the most amazing garlic knots.  One day, I was watching the cook take the knots directly from the oven and then toss them with butter, garlic, and parsley.  I just had to try it at home.  I decided to make them with extra virgin olive oil, and use my pizza dough recipe.  They were so good, my family has to have them when I make pizza now.  We usually eat them while I am getting the pizza ready to put in the oven. They are super simple to make, and you can make your own pizza dough, or use store-bought.  All you need is pizza dough, garlic, olive oil, and fresh parsley.  They are truly delicious.

Garlic Knots

12 garlic knots per pizza dough

  • pizza dough (try my pizza dough recipe)
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • handful of fresh parsley
  • pinch of salt (optional)
  • * Note if you use my pizza dough recipe|], it will make 2 pizzas or 2 batches of garlic knots.
  • Separate pizza dough into twelve 1.5 to 2 inch sections, and then roll into 4 to 5 inch ropes. Tie each rope into a knot.
  • Place the knots on a greased pan in a 450 degree oven. Bake until golden brown (approximately 10 minutes).
  • Meanwhile, mix the remaining ingredients in a bowl (this mixture will easily coat 12 knots). You can double or triple this recipe if making more. Note: you can chop the parsley and garlic as large or small as you like.
  • When the garlic knots are finished baking, remove them from the pan and immediately roll them in the oil mixture until well coated (a large bowl works great here). These are best served immediately. Use some leftover pizza sauce to dip them in.
  • Note: you can use butter instead of olive oil here, or even a mixture of both.
  • I am excited to bring my garlic knots to Fiesta Friday #162!  Your amazing co-hosts this week are Sarah @ Tales From The Kitchen Shed and Liz @ Spades, Spatulas, and Spoons.

Oh yum! Those would be great with Spaghetti, or any pasta dish too I think. Dangerous to my waist line me thinks. These morsels would be too easy to pop in my mouth one right after another! 🙂

        03/09/2017 at 9:54 am #

Yes, very dangerous! Luckily, my daughter and husband eat them so fast, I don’t eat as many as I would. 😉 I need to make them with spaghetti now! Have a fabulous day 😀

Garlic knots are a favorite of mine! I’ve never attempted to make them at home but you make it sound so easy Antonia! I love that you can simply use half the pizza dough recipe for the pizza and half for the garlic knots… the best of both worlds 🙂
