Crunchy Apple Fritters

Apple Fritters

I don’t know about you, but I have been drooling over all the delicious apple recipes this season!   I was hoping to join the party this year, but it hasn’t happened yet.  I am hoping to break out my little pie bird in November, and make an apple/apple inspired pie.  I am hosting a birthday party in mid-November, and it will be a great opportunity to make a couple of pies, and have extra mouths to help eat them up 😉  In the meantime, I thought I would share an apple fritter recipe I came up with last year.  My apple fritters are more traditional, and I have added panko for an extra crunch, and paired them with a yummy cinnamony (Is that even a word?  It should be!) syrup.   My kids love these fritters and they are a great alternative to a heavier apple dessert.  I hope you add these to all the other apple desserts you may be trying this fall.

Try these other yummy fall treats:

I am excited to bring my apple fritters to Fiesta Friday #141!  Your lovely co-hosts this week are Julianna @ Foodie on Board and Zeba @ Food For The Soul

We just went to the apple orchard last weekend Antonia! I’ve got 1/2 bushel of apples and have more than I know what to do with! I’ve made apple butter, apple sauce, apple crisp… Apple fritters are actually my mom’s favorite pastry! I’m going to tuck this away so that I can surprise her one day 🙂 Thank you for sharing!!

Apple season is the best! It sounds like you have made some wonderful treats, especially apple butter. I can eat it with a spoon. That’s awesome, I hope she enjoys them 😀

Ha! I rarely go shopping anymore! I spent most my life as a “mall rat” too. 🙂 I guess I’ll need to get out more if I want to find gems like your spoon.

Looks great, Antonia. I wouldn’t think to use panko. What a clever idea. I can’t get enough apple treats this time of year either 🙂

Apples are one of the most common fruits in the UK, but they still tend to be a favourite for many of us. They have so many uses. Your fritter recipe looks and sounds wonderful and I think I’d like mine hot with ice cream, please. 🙂 I’ve never heard of panko, so I’ll look out for that.

That’s interesting. I agree, they really do and are so delicious! Thank you for the kind words Millie! Panko is a Japanese style of bread crumbs and they add a wonderful crunch to fried or oven-fried foods. They are made from bread without the crusts typically.
